Fahad came to the Babie's Home in early 2011. Fahad was abandoned by his mother at birth when she realized that he was disabled. His father, a taxi driver, continued to care for him. Because he worked from morning to night each day, he was forced to leave Fahad alone in the home and he was only able to feed him periodically. His father grew tired of this routine and decided to take his son to his grandmother. Fahad's grandmother did not have the resources to care for him. We are told she would give him a little cassava now and then. Fahad's father realized his son' life was in danger when he visited their village one day. He was severely malnourished and had huge bedsores. He was taken to a local hospital but his health did not improve. In desperation, Fahad's father brought him to our Jinja Babie's Home. When Fahad arrived he was extremely sick and close to death, He was severely malnourished and on the brink of starvation. He was 6 years old and weighed only 9 kg. Today Fahad is a growing and joyful boy. He has gained 11kg in one year and now weighs 20 kg!We hope to reunite Fahad with his family one day. Once they express their willingness to take him back, we will work with them to ensure they are capable of properly caring for his many needs
